CREATE AN EASTER TABLESCAPE USING A PASTEL PALETTE AND ROMANTIC ACCENTS
My Easter tablescape features a few of my favorite design tips. First, it’s perfectly fine to mix and match plates. The pink, floral salad plates that rest atop my gold glitter dinner plates give this setting a final touch that transforms the table. These delicate pink plates complement the centerpieces and provide a unique display for my Italian Easter eggs.
I absolutely adore the Italian Easter egg tradition. Since the 19th century, Italians have been giving chocolate eggs during the Easter holiday, and overtime, chocolatiers began to place gifts within the hollowed-out eggs. On Easter, the tradition is to break the eggs to reveal the surprise inside. Such an important tradition deserves its place at the table and so you’ll see that I’ve incorporated oversized “chocolate” eggs atop pedestals filled with flowers. Can you tell that these floral pedestals are actually soup bowls? In design, there is always a way to turn an everyday object into something spectacular!
These pedestals along with the adjacent vases bring us to my second design tip featured within this video: consider using artificial flowers. Each pink and white bouquet is comprised of artificial peonies and ranunculus. I always make it a point to use high-end artificial flowers to create a realistic and beautiful bouquet. Such artificial flowers not only look beautiful but also save time. As the flowers won’t wilt, you will be able to set the table the day prior.
To make these bouquets festive, I added a gold twig to each. This particular element was a decoration I had collected from Christmas. Every year, I hold onto anything gold, silver, or glittered—things that I can repurpose for another occasion. This is my third design tip for this tablescape: experiment with repurposed decor. Something old can transform into something new if you just think outside of the box!
