SET UP A PATRIOTIC TABLESCAPE TO CELEBRATE THE 4TH OF JULY
I love the 4th of July—not only because it’s a celebration of independence but also because it is my birthday! For this reason, I always find extra joy in planning parties for this beautiful country. Sometimes 4th of July decor can look a bit cheap or “thrown together”, so I have a few tips for creating an elevated tablescape that still emanates the heart of the holiday.
- Always start with a tablecloth: A nice blue, white, or red tablecloth is the perfect way to create relaxed formality. The tablecloth I used has a textured dot pattern, which adds visual and tactile appeal.
- Layer your dinnerware: You don’t need to go all out, but it’s nice to begin with your charger and follow up with the service elements you need for your menu, such as plates, bowls, utensils, water and wine glasses, etc. If you notice, between the tablecloth, my chargers, plates, utensils, and glasses, I’ve already hit on the biggest design element of Independence Day decor: the colors red, white and blue!
- Pay attention to details: There are many intentional details of this holiday tablescape, but I’d like to draw attention to the napkins. Yes, they’re holiday-themed but I’m talking about their arrangement. The American flag napkin ring makes the napkin appear more elegant in shape, thus creating a sense of formality that echoes the importance of the celebration. Little details like this can have a huge impact on your design.
- Get creative with your centerpiece: My centerpiece speaks to a more traditional 4th of July, maybe even alluding to its beginning! This beautiful vintage vase looks even more stunning filled with a variety of gorgeous flowers and encircled by small vases of elegant roses. Finished with a few American flags, this centerpiece becomes an ode to our country’s rich history.
