A GOLD, RICH AND LUXURIOUS TABLESCAPE

I’ve always believed that an elegant tablescape has the power to welcome those who gather in your home. Whenever I create a new design concept for a setting, I consider how each detail will transform or enhance my guest’s experience. For example, a beautiful centerpiece can spark a memory or start a new conversation, while different textures and patterns can augment the energy in a room. In general, intentional and distinct details make guests feel that their presence is truly celebrated. In this case, I used some architectural principles to attain such a rich tablescape design.

For this design, I focused on playing with textures: metal for the chargers, cutlery, and flower vases; beads for the table mats; glitter accents on the plates; a mirror for the centerpiece. Mixing textures creates visual movement on the table, inviting the eye to take in the peaks and valleys of ever-changing materials. The reflection of gold accents and the mirrored centerpiece reciprocate this movement, casting light and color across the table.

To add an element of realism to such a rich table setting, I created a simple yet beautiful centerpiece by combining a mirrored tray with vases of lush hydrangea. Small, white petals amidst a sea of emboldened gold soften the setting’s decadent energy. In my opinion, this is one of the many entertaining parts of interior design—when two opposing elements create a new effect or become each other’s perfect complement.
