AN OPULENT TULIP FLORAL CENTERPIECE

Tulips have such an interesting history. Did you know that the word “tulip” is believed to have originated from the time of the Ottoman Empire. Historically, Ottoman sultans wore tulips in their turbans, a type of head covering that also resembled an unbloomed tulip itself. As the etymological history goes, the Ottoman Turkish tülbend (turban) eventually transformed into a misnomer for the flower itself. Through Turkish translations and then eventually French, we finally arrived at the word for the gorgeous flowers that we call “tulips.”

Aside from their history, tulips also have a wonderful presence in our world today. Personally, they are one of my favorite flowers to include in seasonal and holiday decor. For a simple yet effective arrangement, I place bunches of tulips in a large vase or bowl. Recently, I have begun using real-touch tulips that look exactly like the real thing (to this day, I’ve never had a guest who thought they were artificial!) I love how these real-touch tulips allow me to keep my arrangements out for an entire spring season!

For this particular display, I grouped six bunches of pink tulips along with nine white tulips. I love to mix varying colors and shades together to create greater dimension to my arrangements as well as visual intrigue. Placed all together in a large golden vase, these tulips create a beautiful contrast to the metallic base一quintessential glamor made easy!
